Anta 3 da Herdade dos Cebolinhos
A medium-sized monument, virtually destroyed, but part of its architecture is still visible.
–
It is a monument with a polygonal chamber with seven pillars, 3×2.4m in diameter. Its corridor was likely short, with only one pillar remaining. Other stones accumulated on and within the monument, some of which may be its fragments. The tumulus is virtually in ruins. Without an archaeological excavation, it is impossible to establish its chronology of use, but the construction dates back to the Neolithic (4th millennium BC).
Lack of knowledge about the chronology of construction or the spectrum of use is recurrent in megalithic monuments in Reguengos de Monsaraz and the Alentejo region. It results from many disruptions over time, in which their contexts and architecture witnessed destruction. For this reason, even when excavated with modern techniques, many do not provide enough data for a correct approach to diachrony, and establishing their chronology depends somewhat on what their type of plan suggests.
